Sasol Foundation Bursary 2024: Empowering Future Leaders in STEM and Beyond

Sasol Foundation is offering an exciting opportunity for South African students to pursue their academic goals with the Sasol Foundation Bursary for the 2024 academic year. This bursary is designed to support talented students in both STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and Non-STEM fields.

About the Sasol Foundation Bursary

The Sasol Foundation Bursary is open to students pursuing undergraduate degrees in both STEM and Non-STEM fields. The bursary is divided into two categories:

1. STEM Fields:

  • Agriculture Science
  • Computer Science
  • Education (majoring in STEM subjects)
  • Financial Science
  • Mathematical Science
  • Chemistry
  • Technology
  • Data Science
  • Engineering
  • Health Science
  • Other related fields

2. Non-STEM Fields:

  • Available to students who are:
    • Sasol Khanyisa shareholders
    • Children of Sasol employees
    • Residents of Sasol’s fence-line communities (districts around Sasol plants, operations, and municipalities)

Bursary Benefits:

The bursary covers:

  • Accommodation
  • Books
  • Once-off computer and calculator
  • Meal allowance
  • Pocket money
  • Registration and tuition fees

Additionally, bursary recipients will receive psycho-social support, including workshops, Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP), and student discussions.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Sasol Foundation Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
  • Education: Must have completed Matric or be currently pursuing Matric.
  • Field of Study: Must intend to pursue a full-time undergraduate degree in one of the fields mentioned above at a recognized public University or University of Technology in South Africa.
  • Academic Performance:
    • For BSc/BSc Eng/BEng students: A minimum of level 6 (70%) in Physical Science and Mathematics, and level 5 (60%) in English (Home, First Additional, or Second Additional language).
    • For BEng Tech students: A minimum of level 5 (60%) in Physical Science, Mathematics, and English.
    • For current students: A minimum average of 60% in all modules, with at least 5 modules registered and no failures in the 2022 academic year.
  • Non-STEM Applicants: Must be a Sasol Khanyisa shareholder, a child of a Sasol employee, or a resident of Sasol’s fence-line communities.

How to Apply

New Users:

  1. Register on the Sasol Platform.
  2. Log in and click on ‘South African Bursary Application’.
  3. Select ‘Undergraduate Applications’ and complete the application form.

Existing Users:

  1. Log in to your Sasol account.
  2. Click on ‘South African Bursary Application’ and proceed with your application.

Note: Applications will only be accepted through the Sasol Foundation’s online platform. Hard copies or email applications will not be considered.

Required Documents

The following documents must be submitted with your application:

  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Certified copy of Grade 11 final results or Matric certificate
  • Certified copy of the most recent examination results
  • Proof of acceptance to a University or University of Technology (on official letterhead)

Closing Date

The application deadline for the Sasol Foundation Bursary is 30 August 2024. Ensure that your application is completed and submitted before this date.
