ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROVIDER – MAD LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION
The Make a Difference Leadership Foundation (MAD) started in 2003 to help bright students reach their academic goals through education and mentoring. MAD wants to shape South Africa’s future by offering comprehensive scholarships that focus on personal growth and support.
Since it began, MAD Leadership Foundation has funded high school and college students throughout their studies and personal development. The foundation has made sure students have the tools and chances they need to become future leaders in South Africa.
ABOUT THE MAD LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME
The Make a Difference Leadership Foundation (MAD) is now taking applications for their scholarship for the 2025 school year.
The scholarship is for students starting high school (Grades 8 to Matric) OR first year of college (in ANY subject) in 2025.

ABOUT THE MAD LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP – SELECTION
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by July 31, 2024 at the latest. If you don’t hear back by then, your application wasn’t successful.
Shortlisted applicants will need to take psychometric and leadership tests in July and August 2024. They’ll then be invited for an interview in September 2024. The chosen candidates will be announced by September 23, 2024.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MAD LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must meet these minimum requirements to apply (note that not meeting all requirements will disqualify your application):
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be in Grade 7 to Matric
- You must be enrolled in a public school (the scholarship doesn’t fund private school students unless they get a big scholarship from the school or the fees match Quintile 5 public schools) OR a college, for 2025
- You must have at least a 65% overall average
- Your total household gross income must NOT exceed R25 000
- You must be able to speak and understand basic English
- You must show strong academic potential
- You must show strong leadership potential
- You must have strong values and a sense of responsibility
- You must take part in extra activities (school-related)
- You must be actively involved in community service

- Proof of school fees and who pays them
- Letter from your school confirming any bursary/ discount/ fee exemption, if applicable
- Essay about yourself and why you’re applying
- Statement of integrity and consent (must be co-signed by a parent or guardian if you’re under 18)
