Available Bursaries and Scholarships for High School Students

We have compiled a list of bursaries and scholarships that are currently available for high school students in South Africa:

1. Investec High School Bursary:
   This bursary is open to students entering Grade 10, Grade 11, or Grade 12 in 2025. It targets students with strong academic potential, particularly in Mathematics, Accounting, or Science. The application deadline is 30 September 2024.
2. SANRAL High School Scholarship:
   Available to students from Grade 8 to Grade 12 in 2025, this scholarship is awarded based on academic merit and financial need. The deadline for applications is 30 September 2024.
3. Allan Gray Orbis Foundation High School Scholarship:
   This scholarship is aimed at students currently in Grade 6 (entering Grade 8 in 2026) who demonstrate significant entrepreneurial potential, strong academic performance, and financial need. The application deadline is 16 September 2024.
4. African Scholars Fund High School Bursary:
   For students entering Grade 8 or Grade 9 in 2025, this bursary is awarded to those who show academic promise, initiative, and a willingness to take responsibility. Each year, the African Scholars Fund supports over 2,000 high school students in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and Northern Cape. Applications close on 15 September 2024.
5. UCT Online High School Scholarship:
   This scholarship is available to students entering Grades 8 to 11, who will complete their high school education through the CAPS curriculum online. Applications must be submitted by 31 August 2024.
6. SBF High School Scholarship:
   Designed for students currently in Grade 6 (entering Grade 8 in 2026), this scholarship is for academically strong students in financial need. Students will be placed in SBF partner high schools in the Cape Town Metropole. The deadline for applications is 30 August 2024.
7. MAD Leadership Foundation Scholarship:
   This scholarship is open to high school students attending any public school in South Africa. The application deadline is 30 June 2024.
8. KMF High School Scholarship:
   For students entering Grade 8 in 2026, this scholarship matches students with top South African institutions, allowing them to achieve their academic goals and reach their full potential. Applications close on 10 May 2024.
9. Siyandisa Scholarship:
   This scholarship is for students entering Grade 12 in 2024, aiming to support academic excellence. Applications must be submitted by 1 March 2024.
10. Toughees Bursary Competition:
    Open to students in both primary (Grades 1 to 7) and high school (Grades 8 to 12), this competition awards 10 students a share of R200,000 to cover outstanding school fees for the 2024 academic year. The application deadline is 15 February 2024.
11. Enel Bursary:
    For students entering high school (Grade 8 to Matric) who reside within Enel’s community of operations in the Northern Cape, Western Cape, and Free State. Applications close on 12 January 2024.
12. Ekapa High School Scholarship:
    This scholarship is for students entering Grade 10 to Matric in 2024, residing within the Frances Baard District Municipality (Northern Cape). Applications must be submitted by 15 December 2023.
13. Spirit Education Foundation Trust High School Scholarship:
    Available for students entering Grade 8 in 2025, this scholarship supports studies at SEF’s partner high schools in Cape Town. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2023.
14. Elsen Academy Legacy Trust High School Scholarship:
    This scholarship is open to students entering Grade 8 to Grade 10 in 2024, who have special needs such as dyslexia, ADHD, or ASD (Autism). Applications close on 30 November 2023.
15. AISCT High School Scholarship:
    This scholarship is for students entering Grade 9 or 10 in 2024, for studies at the American International School of Cape Town. The application deadline is 30 October 2023.
16. Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (OWLAG) Scholarship:
    Open to female students entering Grade 8 or Grade 9 in 2024, this scholarship supports studies at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in Gauteng. The application deadline is 31 March 2023.
17. SAILI High School Scholarship:
    This scholarship is for students entering Grade 8 in 2024, aimed at students from low-income families who are gifted in Mathematics and Science. Applications close on 9 January 2023.
